Another blog improvement — keywords and related entries

I am implementing another blog improvement as I prepare this post. Now, on the individual entry pages (the permalink page for each entry) there is a section entitled “Primary Keywords and Related Entries.” PTP posts that have the same keyword as the post you are viewing will be listed in this section, providing a quick and easy means to navigate the posts that relate to a particular topic. Click the titles listed in this section, and you will be taken to the individual entry page for the related post, which will also include a “Primary Keywords and Related Entries” section.

This example is an individual entry for yesterday’s post on the CREATE Act. Note the “Primary Keywords and Related Entries” section below the text of the post. Click the links to see other posts relating to the CREATE Act.

I use the keyword feature of MovableType in a manner that is more narrow than categories. For legislation, I assign a keyword that relates to the title of the bill. Visiting the legislation category will give you all posts relating to legislation while the “Primary Keywords and Related Entries” section will give links relating to a specific bill. I am currently updating keywords on previous posts, and this feature will be added to those individual pages as a complete the update.

Also note that the individual entry pages include a trackback section, with links to external sites that reference the particular entry, and a comments section. In conjunction with the “Primary Keywords and Related Entries” section, each individual entry page includes numerous resources for exploring a particular topic.

If you are not visiting the individual entry pages, please do so that you can take advantage of these resources.
