Comments are now open!
I had to turn off the comments feature on Promote the Progress 
several months back because I couldn’t keep up with the comment spammers (I’m still amazed at the number of poker sites out there….). The most recent round of improvements to Promote the Progress included an upgrade to the latest version of MovableType, which has a decent filter for detecting spam. I was finally able to kick the tires on the filter and am fairly confident that it will minimize the junk.
So…comments are now open again.
I also added some styling to the comments portion of the individual post archives…comments from readers will appear in one color, and my reply comments will be highlighted in a different color. Each comment is numbered relative to the post, making it easy to reference other comments. Look at this old post - the original “coming soon” post for the Rethink(IP) project - as an example. The styling is designed to facilitate discussion in the comments portion of individual pages.
Here’s a great place to start - on Friday I characterized the eBay v. MercExchange case as a gauntlet….thrown down by the Supreme Court as a challenge to Congress. Surely someone has thoughts on that post.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did a cursory review of Akismet awhile back. There are a couple builds specifically for MovableType ( http://akismet.com/development/ ). Unfortunately, the ‘official’ plugin is not completely compatible with the internal MT system (see the notes from Akismet on the issue here - http://akismet.com/blog/2006/04/for-mt/ ).
I decided to run the internal MT system for awhile and get a feel for its effectiveness. If it doesn’t perform well, I plan on moving to Akismet, either alongside the MT system or on its own.

Have you tried Akismet ( http://akismet.com/ )? I use it on my blog and its fabulous.
