Use of Chapter II in PCT applications continues downward trend

The WIPO PCT Statistical Indicators Report for July, 2004 [Link: .pdf] includes a variety of datasets that show the same trend — the use of Chapter II proceedings is on a sharp decline. The changes made to time limits and procedures for Chapter I are the driving force…and the Demand procedure is quickly falling to the wayside. The chart at left, taken from the Report, shows the percentage of International Applications in which a Demand has been filed by the time limit. Current value is about 40% of International Applications have a Demand filed.
