WSJ article on new Chinese “crackdown”

Link [subscription required]: Today’s Wall Street Journal includes an article about a special year-long crackdown on intellectual property rights violations. The crackdown targets specific provinces of China, and includes Beijing and Shanghai.

According to the article, the crackdown “is a long-awaited official follow-up to Vice Premier Wu Yi’s commitments during April meetings of the U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade to take serious action against copyright violations.” (see this prior post relating to the April meetings and the resulting Chinese PR efforts).

The crackdown is not limited to copyright violoations, though, and apparently includes trademark and patent law violations as well.
